Gillibrand,

Great blog!

Alas, I have known very few good and faithful Jesuits (only 1 or 2), although Saint Ignatius Loyala was instrumental in my reversion.

With so few good and holy men in the Jesuit ranks, and with just about every heretical, novel, or heterodox viewpoint passed off as Catholic coming from the Jesuits, isn't less really more?

I've just wandered in from a post at "The Cafeteria is Closed" - a post on Pope Benedict XVI's fondness for cats.

I read with dismay here your postis about the Church in Belgium. From here in the USA, I can say, "Well, that's Belgium, what can you expect", but to see such a travesty made of the Mass is appalling. It loks like they have centered on the notion of Ritual and thrown out all the essence of Catholicism.

What is this "twig" thing, anyway? Is the Cross too heavy a burden even to see?

It looks like they're following in the footsteps of the Episcopal Church, where belief in Christ and the Trinity is optional.

I'm especially dismayed by the Jesuit's shrinking numbers. I survived a Jesuit high school - it was a great education, one that I'm truly grateful for.
