His Diocese hosted the Joint Synod of the German Dioceses from 1971-75, which was meant to implement the Second Vatican Council in Germany.

For some people, this Synod was the high point of their lives- the future Cardinal Lehmann among them. I have a fat book on what it decided that the Second Council had decided for the religious communities. This is all at several degrees removed from the operation of the Holy Spirit in the one True Fold of the Redeemer.
